What counts as a match
A match is one business, counted once, that satisfies all of the following:
It is a real business at a real address
A public record of a business opening, confirmed against a live listing at a commercial street address. A filing at a registered agent's office, a home address, an apartment or a mailbox is not a match and is never counted as one.
It is the kind of business you sell to
One of the business types on your account. Your trade arrives with a default set and you can change it at any time. Widening the set makes the floor easier to reach; narrowing it makes it harder.
It is inside your area
Your own city at the radius on your account first, then the area widens as described below. The pool never crosses out of the territory your address sits in.
It is new to you
One card per physical site per account. A second record for the same place is marked as a duplicate and is not a second match. A business you skip still counted as a match, because it was matched and shown to you.
An opening whose record carries an industry code that sells what you sell is removed before matching, so it is never counted toward the floor and never mailed.
How the area widens
Matching starts from your own city or county at the radius on your account. If the month is short of 15 matches, the radius grows fifteen miles at a time, up to 80 miles, and stops as soon as the floor is reached. Nothing about what qualifies changes as it widens: the confirmation step, the grading rules and your type list all apply at 80 miles exactly as they do at five.
The pool is also clipped to the territory your address is in, so widening finds more of your own metro and never reaches into a different one.
When the fee is waived, and how you see it

The separate per-card credit
A card is billed when it mails. If the address turns out to be undeliverable and the card comes back, that card is credited back to your account and the credit comes off your next invoice. If the printer cannot verify the address in the first place, the card is held before it prints, so it is not mailed and not billed at all, and the match stays on your list with its phone number from the public record or a public listing so you can still call.
This is not part of the monthly guarantee and does not depend on it. A month can be well over 15 matches and still contain a credited card.
What this guarantee is not
It is a guarantee about volume, which is the part we control. It is not a promise about how many of those businesses call you, and nothing on this site publishes a response rate, because no benchmark exists for mail to businesses that just opened and a figure you cannot check is not worth printing. What you can check is in your dashboard: every call, text and scan, next to what that card cost.
